WHAT IS GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE:- As Google chrome is the most used browser of all times, here in today’s article you will get to know about Google search engine and how it works.

WHAT IS GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE?

There is not anyone who has not heard about GOOGLE. People use this browser to search for things and it has developed so much over the years that the services given by this browser are pretty great.

Google is a search engine provided by Google. Google chrome handles more than 3.5 billion searches per day. Google has a 92% share of the global search engine market making it the most used search engine of all times and so we can also say that it is also the most-visited website in the world.

Search results returned by Google are based on a priority rank system which is called “PageRank”.

Google Search also provides many different options for customized searches by using symbols to include and exclude, specify or require certain search behavior, by offering specialized interactive experiences, like flight status and package tracking, weather forecasts, currency, unit, and time conversions, word definitions, and more according to the needs of the searchers.

The main purpose of Google Search is to search for text in publicly accessible documents offered by web servers from different websites, as opposed to other data, such as images or data contained in databases.

HOW GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE WORKS

Google is a automated search engine that uses software known as web crawlers which explores the different websites and their content on a regular basis to add to our index.

Google Search engine works in three stages which are:

  • Crawling:

Crawler is a web automated program and its main purpose is to look for pages that are new and updated to show them in Google searches. Google stores those page addresses or their URLs in a big list to look at later. Users find pages by many different methods, but the main method is following links from pages that we already know about or from the pages which provide the relevant information.

  • Indexing:

Google analyzes the content, images, and video files in the page, trying to understand what the page is about after crawling process. The information is stored in the Google index which is a huge database that is stored on many computers.

  • Serving search results:

When a user searches on Google, Google provides the highest quality results to them. To be in the “best” results includes many factors like the user’s location, language, device (desktop or phone), and previous queries. For example a user searches for nearest bakery then Google first looks for user’s location and then it provides the results to its users.

WHAT IS GOOGLE ALGORITHMS

Google algorithms update every once in a while so that it can provide the users relevant information. Google algorithm updates are too small to notice that it disrupts the way we do SEO forever.

There are total eight of the most critical search algorithm changes which are explained in a detailed manner.

1. Panda

The Panda algorithm update assigns a so-called “quality score” to web pages. The site developers needed to run regular site checks for content duplication, thin content, and keyword stuffing. Site developers used a site crawler, like SEO PowerSuite’s Website Auditor.

2. Penguin

The objective of Google Penguin’s is to down-rank sites whose back links look unnatural. This update helped to put an end to low-effort link building, like buying links from link farms and PBNs.

3. Hummingbird

The Hummingbird algorithm helps Google better interpret search queries and provide results as it worked on the quality of the content. Hummingbird algorithm makes it possible for a page to rank for a query even if it doesn’t contain the exact words the searcher entered and this is achieved with the help of natural language processing that relies on latent semantic indexing, co-occurring terms and synonyms.

4. Mobile

This algorithm shifted the focus from a desktop to a mobile version of your website as tday, Google ranks all websites based on how fast and user-friendly their mobile versions are.

This algorithm brought many changes for the mobile users and made it easier to search anything on mobiles.

5. RankBrain

This algorithm helped to rank the pages at lowest because of their lack of query specific relevance, shallow content and poor UX.

RankBrain is a machine learning system which helps Google to understand the meaning behind queries which will help Google to provide the relevant results and Google calls RankBrain the third most important ranking factor.

6 Medic

The Google Medic update seemed to disproportionately affect medical websites. As it is not explicitly confirmed but Google representatives have hinted that the update implemented some of the E-A-T (expertise, authority, trust) signals from the Quality Rater Guidelines document.

7. Bert

Bert algorithm helped Google to ignore those pages which entirely lacking their focus, poorly written content and lack of context because the users definitely would not use their search engine if they will not get the relvant information.

8. Core Updates

In 2017, Google has started to refer to bigger updates as Google core updates. And from then, Google shows even less transparency about what those and new updates are. Google gives no information about which parts of search they are intended to improve.

SEOs would often track post-update by making rank shifts and even try to figure out what exactly has changed but there very less conclusive observation. Even if these updates are smaller, it affects the SEOs ranking highly making it tough to stand a chance in Google search results.

Since the effects of Google core updates are often unknown, the only thing you the developers can do is to track SERP history for the keywords that they are targeting.

Once it is done, you can easily check which of your competitors have moved up or down in rankings which will help to guess the factors which have changed.
