INDEX TAGS tells robot of Google crawler to index the webpage so that the webpage can be included in indexed pages and get ranked in search results. Whereas, no index tags are used for not to get indexed the webpage by the robots.

Basically the purpose of indexing is to find out the purpose of the webpage so that it can further be included in the specific group and can be indexed in search engine.

If NO INDEX TAG is used then it will be completely eliminated from the SERPs, regardless of whether other websites are linking to it.

No index tags or directives instruct search engines to exclude a page from the index which makes it ineligible to appear in search results.

BEST PRACTICES OF SEO FOR NO INDEX DIRECTIVES

  1. UNDERSTANDING THAT “NOINDEX” IS TREATED AS “NOFOLLOW”

Webmasters have used Meta Robots tags or response headers in order to signal to search engines that the current page should not be indexed but the links which are available on the page should still be crawled as with the following Meta Robots tag which is:

<meta name=”robots” content=”noindex,follow” />

This is commonly used for paginated listing pages. For example, “noindex,follow” may be applied to a blog’s archive listings and to prevent the archive pages from appearing in search results but allow search engines to crawl, index and rank the blog posts themselves.

  1. AVOID USING “NOINDEX” ON VALUABLE PAGES

Pages which include some important information or some real and unique information should not use NO INDEX TAG. By using this tag there is a direct possibility that the valuable content is going to waste and you never know that the accidental inclusion of a “noindex” tag or directive on a valuable page can cause that page to be removed from search engine indices and stop receiving all organic traffic.
